The Bluebirds of Gold Hill

The Bluebird Organization was founded by Jean Sherwood in the early 1900’s. It allowed for professional women from Chicago to travel to the Boulder and Gold Hill area and spend summers recreating and enjoying one another’s company in the mountains. The Bluebird Lodge was established in the town of Gold Hill in 1920, and the Bluebirds played a large role in shaping and preserving the history of the town.
