2022 Community Outreach – “Gold Hill’s Connection to the Sand Creek Massacre.” A special thanks to all who attended our annual Community Outreach event on September 3rd – and deep gratitude to our guest speaker, Mr. Richard “Rick” B. Williams.
Members of the Gold Hill community learned the history of our town’s unfortunate connection to the Sand Creek Massacre – and the wrongs committed against the people whose ancestral land our town sits upon. Gold Hill and our Museum is on the sacred lands of the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Ute Nations. Please be respectful of all lands and people.
Please take some time to watch Mr. William’s presentation below. It is up to each of us to listen, learn, restore and repair.
2021 Community Outreach – “Personal Hygiene Throughout the Ages”. Yes, this subject came about in 2020 when there was no toilet paper to be found in the stores. We were wondering what people did in the past and both Ania Ozimek and Joan Few were already researching the subject. Our outhouse was built on the museum property and is filled with information about the history of these kinds of buildings and what was used in them. We are thrilled to present this research and Ania’s terrific historical banner of the subject
